In Extended Day Programs, Get Involved

The month of March is all about the love of reading at Mission Graduates, with Dr.Seuss Day happening at all six of our Extended Day Programs. Celebrating literacy through various Seuss-tastic themed activities, and with the help of over 80 volunteers from ten different corporate and community partners, we were having fun all month long!

WorkDayIncAtlassianOur Extended Day Programs lesson plans infuse the elements of literacy development each day: speaking, listening, reading, and writing. Dr.Seuss Day engages our students to strengthen their literacy skills while having fun.  This year we got a little messy with ooblak, blew up Oh The Places You’ll Go hot air balloons with a chemical reaction, and went fishing for one fish, two fish, redfish, and blue fish.

This day is always so much fun, that we open it up to some big-kid reading buddies.  This year, employees from Atlassian, Accenture, Everlane, Hiscox, Alpha Pi Sigma at San Francisco State University, Hermanas de SFSU, The Assembly, Avionte Software, and Workday got out of the office and down onto the rainbow carpets to read aloud their favorite Dr. Seuss book, color in their own Cat in the Hat hat, and challenge our students to a Wocket Rocket. contest.
