Natalie BessDIRECTOR OF PROGRAM IMPACT

Natalie’s (she/her) passion for promoting educational equity started at Northwestern University, where she majored in Sociology and minored in Spanish. Inspired by her studies, Natalie decided to become a teacher to better understand the greatest forces driving the educational opportunity gap.

Over five years, Natalie was a founding staff member and team leader at two new Title 1 high schools in Denver. She helped pilot an AP For All course to promote equitable access to advanced classes and served as Director of her charter network’s first city-wide hybrid summer school during the COVID-19 pandemic. She also gained international teaching experience through a Fulbright Fellowship in Spain.

Natalie has an MA in Policy, Organization, and Leadership Studies from the Stanford Graduate School of Education, where she focused on college access and success research and policy. She is deeply passionate about her work building internal evaluation systems at Mission Graduates and looks forward to supporting the organization in expanding its impressive impact even further.
