Christina Lopez-RuizProgram Director - Cleveland Elementary

Christina, born and raised in San Francisco, received her B.A. in Ethnic Studies and Media & Cultural Studies in 2013 from UC Riverside. Although she enjoyed working in the nearby elementary schools of Riverside, she knew she wanted to come back home and work with students from her hometown. She enjoyed her service year at a middle school in San Jose with the Americorps program City Year but found her place with Mission Graduates in 2014. It was here that she was finally able reconnect with the Mission District community, where she herself attended school.

During her 4 years as an Extended Day program teacher, Christina worked with 5th grade and 2nd grade at Marshall Elementary. She found her passion in literacy with her Camp-Read-a-Lot blocks and STEM, while leading an all-girls STEM enrichment. She is now the Program Director at Cleveland Elementary and is excited to share her love of all things literacy and STEM with students and families.
