Jesus Garcia-GomezSenior Director of Human Resources

    Jesus is a first-generation immigrant whose family fled Venezuela for Southern California. He graduated from San Diego State with a degree in Latin American Studies and quickly transitioned to a career in the nonprofit industry. Giving back to the community is a core value of his because of the impact it had for him growing up.

    He previously served as the Member Services and Community Outreach Director for the Ecke Family YMCA in San Diego. It was in this role he was able to significantly change the demographic landscape of their facility. Due to the departments’ efforts to reach out, welcome and retain the LatinX community, we introduced new staff, policies, and procedures that fostered the ongoing growth and conversation with our new constituents.

    He last served as the Administrative Services Director for the Embarcadero YMCA here in San Francisco, where he oversaw the Human Resources, Finance, and Information Technology departments supporting 150 staff and 75 volunteers. During this time he was able to restructure the branch’s administrative department, streamlined the organization’s onboarding experience, and worked on the Centralization of the Business Resource Center.

    Believe it or not, it was during this time he discovered a passion for compliance, connections, and the importance of staff development. Jesus looks forward to advancing the work of Mission Graduates in this next chapter.
