Marching to the Future

Each spring, Mission Graduates brings together students and families from across our programs for Marching to the Future—a celebration that inspires youth of all ages to envision their educational journeys from kindergarten through college.

About the Celebration

Marching to the Future is a declaration: “We are going to college!” This mission-driven event creates excitement around higher education for students at every grade level, from elementary through high school. Organized by our Building a Culture of Higher Education cohort, this celebration reinforces the message that college is an attainable goal for all students.

What to Expect

Marching to the Future takes place across our partner schools throughout the spring, with activities tailored to different age groups, including:

  • College exploration workshops
  • Interactive financial aid seminars
  • Hands-on skill-building sessions
  • Inspiring talks from professionals in diverse careers
  • Creative arts and DIY college gear-making stations
  • Educational games like Career Bingo
  • Celebratory marches where students proudly display college banners

Why We March

The path to college begins in kindergarten. Marching to the Future helps students see themselves on a college campus, explore different academic paths, and understand the steps needed to achieve their educational goals.

During these events, students learn about different colleges and universities, various fields of study, and campus life. They make signs for the march, celebrate their favorite university mascots, and proudly tell their communities: “We are the future!”
