Chief Financial Officer
A finance professional for the past 34 years, Ben has steered the fiscal affairs of various major non-profit corporations in San Francisco before embarking on sharing his experiences and talent by offering contract services and in turn reaching and providing fiscal oversight to more non-profit corporations. Among these corporations are Asian American Recovery Services, United Way Silicon Valley, San Francisco AIDS Foundation, Astronomical Society of the Pacific to name a few.
His Masters in Business Administration, major in finance and minor in organizational developments aided him in accomplishing his goals of helping the non-profit sector improved their financial reporting and administrative functions.
His accomplishments are:
- Restored donor confidence and positive community perception of a $26 M agency by redesigning the accounting systems and instituted policies and procedures for efficient and timely monitoring of donations, designations and compliance with any donor restrictions, loan covenants and agreements. Installed new accounting software to automate financial reporting functions of the agency.
- Advised the Executive Director of a major community loan fund on the responsibilities and reporting requirements of a not-for-profit public benefit corporation for socially responsible investing; reviewed the accuracy of the financial statements; approved with the full social and financial criteria.
- Responsible for a major foundation’s conversion from manual to computerized accounting system; directed the fiscal administration from payroll to financial statement preparation as well as cash flow management.
